elements weaved and entangled ~ palestinian embroidery & calligraphy, the sunbird, a figure that merges woman and olive tree, her branches running through her hair, rooted in the soil, head up in the sun.
the words flow from a song — "unadikum," by ahmad qabour — the bird uttering the first words: unadikum - I am calling you.
they flow inside the branches of the tree: "ashuddu 'ala eyadikum - I clasp your hands."
and land in-between the roots in the earth: "wa ebussu'l'arda tahte ni'alikum wa equlu efdikum - I kiss the ground beneath your feet, and I say: I offer my life for yours."
around the sun they return: "wa uhdikum deya 'ayneyy wa dif'el qalbi a'tikum - I give you the warmth of my eyes as a present and the warmth of my heart."
finishing with words flowing from her nose, mouth, all the way to her neck, landing inside her branches again: "fe me'sati'lleti ahya nasibi min ma'sikum - the tragedy I live is that I share your tragedies."
